After the break and an outing in the Haute Seine cup, normal service resumed for the U11s with the league and an away fixture against Tir au Pigeon in the Bois de Boulogne.
The players are starting to get used to their positions and each other now. Didier made only one change from the previous weeks with Milo making his debut after not being available for the first few games. The team started the match brightly scoring first with a nice finishing touch from Alexander to put them ahead. The teams were well matched with both teams looking dangerous in front of goal but it was the away team that scored next with a well-taken shot from outside the area that left Ines no chance. The SAC didn’t let their heads drop and soon took the lead again when young Elliot got on the end of a corner to put the ball in the back of the net and the SAC 2-1 in front. The opposition was creating chances with their superior speed upfront but we dug in well and defended well before they equalized with a lucky ping-pong goal from a clearance that hit one of their players and went in off a knee to leave our keeper wrong footed. The second half was again well matched but chances were fewer with both teams tiring. Ines made some brave saves and kept us in the game whilst Elliot just missed out on adding his second the opposite end. With a few minutes remaining the opposition won a corner and managed to take the lead with a very fortunate own goal. After having suffered a heavy defeat here this time last year, it proved that the team has made real progress and we were unfortunate not to get a well-deserved point. Next two games are at home so the team will be hoping for a win at least with home advantage.
