Didier rang in a few changes with young Miles starting at right back and Timeo shifting to the left. We started well and were 2-0 up in the first ten minutes with Alexander knocking in the first and Iskander finally finding the net having not scored since his opening day hatrick. The pitch was extremely heavy and wasn’t allowing either team to play good football due to the torrential rain. We kept Salesienne at bay for most of the half before their midfielder scored a wonderful goal from outside the area giving Ines no chance. 2-1 at halftime and Didier made 4 substitutes with Hugo, Oscar, Milo and Elliot making their entry. We never looked comfortable on the ball in the second half however, and were giving the ball away too easily and allowing them too many chances in front of goal. They finally got their equalizer with a low shot that skimmed off the slippery surface making it hard to defend. Several players were playing out of their usual positions and we just didn’t look like threatening with very little link up play. In such heavy conditions, we really needed to pass the ball around more to try and not tire too quickly. The away team were in control and eventually took the lead for the first time with a long shot that crept over the line. This suddenly gave us a wake up call and we started to venture back into their half having been put under a lot of pressure for most of the second half. We were awarded a free kick on the outside of the area and Mathia’s cross into the box managed to evade everyone including their keeper and crept into the bottom corner to equalize 3-3. With 5 minutes to go we gave it a real good push and Timeo was unlucky not to get his boot onto a center to steal the winner as was Oscar who got himself into a good position to only put his shot into the keepers hands. 3-3 was the final score and the players seemed a little deflated which was perhaps justified as we were far from our best but still managed to grind out a draw and another point. Depending on the weather and the state of the pitches, we will have a chance to put it behind us and move on with a friendly organised this Wednesday against Sèvres FC. Kick off at 3pm at the club (don't forget your SAC kit boys).
