Saturday saw us welcome Tir au Pigeon to the club having lost the away fixture 3-2 in a closely fought match back in October.
We had a near full squad to pick from with just Milo missing albeit no coach as Didier had other engagements. Those of us that come week in week out to cheer on our youngsters were more than happy to turn our hand to picking the team and making changes. We started the game brightly and got our noses in front early on through Elliot with a well-taken finish, for his second goal of the season with his other coming against Tir au Pigeon in the previous tie. Instead of building on our early advantage, we allowed them to get back into the game and saw them pull level before scoring a second to take the lead 2-1 at the break. We had created several chances but were lacking the killer instinct in front of the net as well as hitting the woodwork on more than one occasion. Lady Luck was still not on our side in the second half as again we went close and hit the uprights before they scored a well taken third. We were still in the game even at 3-1 down and clawed another one back with a well-taken left footed finish from Iskander. From here we went looking for the equalizer but it just wasn't to be and with seconds remaining they scored a forth on the counter to win 4-2. It was an end-to-end game full of chances and a closely fought encounter yet again. We will hope to beat them at the end of the season when Tir Au Pigeon returns to the club to participate in our first ever Lily Cup competition on May 28th. Put this date in your diaries! Next weekend is Easter so usually there is no match and Saturday April 2nd sees the U11s participate in the Albion Cup arranged by the British section at Le Peq. Come on U11s, bring some
