How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site and particular things you might like to remember about your last visit. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

Some cookies, for example those relating to remembering your login details or language preferences are so called 'persistant'. They will remain on your system until deleted by you (though your browser). Most of the cookies are so-called 'session cookies'; they are only used during the time you are interacting with the website and are used to track your passage from page to page so that the context of your interaction may be kept. These cookies expire at the end of your session, or when you restart your browser, whichever comes first.

Overall, cookies and logs help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

We do not allow third party applications to use our website, nor allow third party web providers to pass through our website to you. (See links to other websites)

You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website. All browsers also allow you periodically to delete all or some of the cookies from a particular site.
