The cricket season came to an end over the weekend with two matches. SAC lost Saturday’s match vs the British Embassy, but won the final match of the season on Sunday vs LFP CC.
On Saturday, SAC batted first making 163, having been eight down for around 80. A great recovery was led by guest player Nabi (who made 91), and Shakeel Ahmad (25 not out). In the end though we didn’t quite have enough runs, and the Embassy passed the SAC total for the loss of five wickets. The Embassy’s secret weapon was SAC member Praneeth Kumar who made 52 against his own club!
On Sunday, SAC fielded first and a good bowling and fielding effort restricted LFP CC to 168 from their 30 overs. Wickets were shared by John Hardy, Azam Sadad, Shakeel Ahmad, Amjad Ali and Rich Parkin. In response, SAC started well with the bat, aided by a large number of extras, and made the runs for the loss of just three wickets and with four overs to spare. Shan Selvaradjou top scored with 41 not out, while Alastair Thomas made 33.
An excellent season overall, with more wins than losses, and played in an excellent spirit with an excellent bunch of lads.
Thanks to all the players, and in particular the cricket committee members Rich Parkin, Vishal Jagtap and Thodi Andersson for their hard work.
A final thank you to David Colson and the SAC Committee, Frederic and the SAC staff, and to all club members for their support of another excellent season of cricket.
Roll on next season!
