SAC lost 4-2 in a thrilling encounter against Hispania. Despite having the unusual luxury of an 18-man squad and a good blend of youth and experience, SAC were unable to capitalise on all of the excellent opportunities the midfield created.
Young Harald Auss opened the scoring with a very skillful lob over the keepers’ head but Hispania equalised almost immediately before Paul Bowyer made a terrific run and slotted one in the corner of the goal. Frustratingly, Hispania equalised again before scoring 2 further goals in the second half. Despite some courageous tackling and supply in the midfield by Mikael Jayet and Laurent Minet, SAC just couldn’t seem to latch onto the chances with the forwards either missing the box or shooting straight at the keeper.
Football Chairman Laurent Brault refereed the second half in his Wellington boots and was upbeat despite the result -
“We created some tremendous chances today, the defense was also pretty solid and Benjamin captained well getting everyone involved in the game. On a different day we could have won 6-2“
