"SAC Juniors took part in the LFP Morangis U15 tournament last Saturday, coming second in all their games but the kids had a great time and the welcome from the other teams and our friends in Morangis was outstanding."
Indoor cricket in the winter is becoming much more regular in France, with several clubs now holding tournaments. An admirable initiative has come from our friends at LFP Morangis CC, who have organised several junior tournaments. Despite being the middle of winter, when most of our players are thinking about football, SAC managed to field a team for their U15 tournament in March. This was a repeat of the very successful tournament they held late last year, and was even better attended. This created something of a bottleneck to get everyone a game in a reasonable time, and a mild selection headache for the SAC coach when by the morning of the tournament the squad had ballooned to nine - when the team for each game was just six. This was easily solved by a strict rotation policy on the teamsheet and in the batting order to give everyone a game and a turn at the bowling or batting crease. So while understandably a bit rusty in some disciplines, the boys did themselves proud with their fielding, their running between the wickets and the spirit in which they played their cricket. And while this didn't transform into any match wins, they were eagerly looking forward to the new season.
