On Saturday 19th the SAC U16 team took on their much more experienced counterparts from LFP Morangis in a 15-over match as a curtain raiser to the senior team's match with the same club.

LFP Morangis batted first and were rocked by fine opening spells from new recruits Logan and Joshua. Both took wickets and troubled the batsmen with their pace and their movement. The backup bowlers struggled to match their accuracy and, with a wide earning the batting side two runs in this grade of cricket, the score mounted at an alarming rate. As this was a practice match, SAC captain Joe used 10 bowlers before the innings closed at 97.

Opening batsmen Sam and Miles got SAC's reply off to a flying start and for much of the innings the home team was up with the required run rate. A lone hand from Miles, who struck the ball well on both sides of the wicket, seemed to have SAC on track for a famous win. But with the most accurate bowlers returning for the last few overs the SAC chase stuttered before eventually falling short by 25 runs.

Both sides played the match in great spirit and we look forward to seeing them back again later in the season.
