The SAC’s U-13 and U-9 teams took on the British School last Saturday and came away with very different results in the 8-a-side games: a hard-fought 1-0 victory for the older boys and a character-building 11-0 defeat for the younger lads.
Victor Moreau was the U-13’s goal scorer in a team that proved strong in attack - Tristan De L’Hermite, Samuel Mangasarian, Auguste le Duc - and resolute in defence, with a clean sheet in goal for Rhys Parkin and Luc Wisman. The result is all the more impressive for the rapid rotation of players as the team took the field under-strength but then found itself with four substitutes on the sidelines, champing at the bit for some on-field action.
We won’t dwell too much on the U-9s game, save to mention the absence of a key player or two and the observation that the second half went much better than the first (score 7-0 at half-time).
The British School came in force - children and parents - and so enjoyed the experience that they have offered us a rematch in January.
