A mix up with the kick off time saw us having to begin the match with just 9 players as Alex and Milo were still en route and Iskander was absent. The duo of Miles and Elliot started up front for the first time with their fast pace albeit small frames. Antony settled into the game quicker however and were dominating the 50/50 balls and having a lot of possession plus they had the advantage of playing week in week out on the synthetic surface, which makes the ball run faster and allows for less mistakes. They made us

e of this advantage to take the lead with a well-finished goal. We were looking a little sloppy still and not passing the ball well and as a result a mix up in our defence saw them go 2-0 up before half time. Miles and Elliot made way for the likes of Oscar, Milo and Alexander at half time having ran their socks off for the whole of the first half. We looked more composed on the ball all of a sudden and started to put them under pressure. Alexander was jostling their players up front and making himself a handful and the defence was solid leaving Ines with little to do in goal. Their keeper on the other hand was being called upon time and time again as we looked to score after some decent passes of play. The goal came through a good finish from Alex and we were now full of confidence and playing nice football, hounding their players and winning the 50/50 balls with the grit that had been lacking in the first half. A mix up in their defence saw us get a worthy equaliser but we were not happy with a draw and were looking for the winner which nearly came in the closing moments if it hadn't been for a great save from their keeper from Edouard's free kick. Another fine save from their keeper after Elliot's late one on one attempt kept them in the game and gave them a point as the match finished 2-2. This was a great come back from the U11s as many times this season they have let their heads drop when conceding but this time fought and dug in and put in a great team performance and were unlucky not to snatch all three points. Great stuff U11s!!! Next match is at home on Saturday 19th March against local rivals Tir au Pigeon whom we narrowly lost to 3-2. Come and watch and support our U11s especially now as spring is sneaking up on us and the sunshine should be more and more present. One date to put in your diaries is 28th May when the SAC will be hosting an U11s charity tournament - The Lily Cup. Look out for the posters, which will soon be going, up in the club and lend us your support.
