Marly played very fluidly, passing the ball around with ease and allowing Pascal Gastebois to score 4 trade mark goals, dribbling around the defenders and then shooting with superb accuracy. SAC midfield were unable to provide opportunities but when they did, Paul was able to get away from the defenders and rival Gastebois’s precision, scoring a great hat trick.

SAC did not give up throughout the game, despite conceding some sloppy goals including the first own goal of the season by Riches, playing out of position in right back defense. It wasn’t for want of trying, captain Benjamin Sharp and Yann de Cathieu showing British fighting spirit with some very committed tackles. SAC were playing “catch up” throughout the game and after half time Marly were able to maintain a 2-goal lead.

Chairman Laurent Brault showed his passion for the game agreeing to referee the game in casual clothing and still managed to take some positives out of the game, he was heard saying in the Rose Garden “All players turned up on time, it’s just a shame we had to give 2 of them away to the opposition, I’m not sure our own team know that Ian and Pascal have over 100 years of football experience between them, they were a big loss. I am also delighted that we have a real find in Richard Parkin as goalie, he looked the part and was a sporting a brand new pair of goalie gloves.
