Saturday 5th May, the adult football team played against Radcliffe 562 Football Club (FC562) in Manchester.
It was a sunny day in Manchester (very rare in Manchester) and we played on a wonderful grass pitch (not rare in Manchester).
SAC scored first with a goal by Mikael Jayet; after that, it was fairly even but FC562 managed to score twice. But a few minutes later, an FC562 defender fouled Mikael Jayet who was heading at the goal. It was a clear penalty, which was duly made by Benjamin Sharp making the score 2-2 after 45 minutes.
In the second half, it became more difficult for SAC as our opponents let many talented and fit substitutes come in. We held a long time and thought we would have a penalty shoot-out to decide the winner but FC562 finally scored, so the final score was 4-2.
After the game, we all went to a pub for the presentation of the cup to the winner. It was a great day and the FC562 players were fantastic hosts! We are looking forward our next game.
On Sunday, we attended the Bolton vs Nottingham Forest match. It was a very tense game as it was the last day of the season an Bolton had to win to avoid relegation.
We experienced that Football is like nothing else when it comes to stirring the emotions: from hope to despair to ecstasy all in the space of a few moments.
After being 1 goal down (1-2) four minutes before the end, Bolton miraculously saved itself from relegation by scoring two goals in the 87th and 88th minutes, just when everybody had almost lost all hope!
At full time, thousands of supporters flooded onto the pitch to celebrate!
On Monday, we enjoyed the Magical Mystery Tour, which is a trip visiting all the places in Liverpool where the Beatles grew up and started as a band; places like Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields, among others.
To sum up the weekend in a few words: all this was great!
Our next game on 28th May against Los Pipos in Chaville.
