Clotilde Pâquier and Benjamin Sharp were the big winners in this year’s Club Tennis Tournament. Clothilde and Benjamin lost just a game apiece in their respective Singles finals against Julie Luc and Mikael Jayet. Their straight-sets victories nonetheless included some high quality, competitive tennis from their opponents in the canicular heat.
Clothilde also claimed the Ladies Doubles title with Phoebe Strouts, with Gigi Cothier & Alice Clark the runner’s up.
Phoebe and husband Gerald fought hard in the Mixed Doubles final but it was Benjamin with partner Elise Bastian who triumphed 7-6, 6-0.
Philippe Lebrec won the Teenager’s Cup, with some super-steady play against Antoine Gonin. In the Junior final, Alexander Curtin beat Jean Cothier in a nail-biting three-set match including two tie-breaks. Jules Moreau had the edge over Jasper Duc in the Children’s Final.
In the Family Doubles, Simon and Thomas Lavigne, last year’s losing finalists, came up trumps this time around, with a no-nonsense victory against Raphael and Alexandre Gonin.
A big thank you to all those who took part and above all to the tireless work of Tracey-Lee Jacquot as tournament organiser.
PS The Men's Doubles Final pitting Benjamin & Victor Sharp against Melvyn Cooke & Mikael Jayet has yet to be played.
