January 2019 News

Stop Press

Squash: Thursday evening Critérium Île de France matches - Team 1 at home beat St Cloud Altiplano, the hitherto undefeated leader of the League,  4/1. Team 2 played away at Squash Vincennes with only 4 players and lost only 3/2.

What's been going on

Last Friday Bridgers enjoyed the first daytime Workshop of the year, the main subject was discussing what you would bid with the hands shown after an opening by your partner and a "take-out double" by your right-hand opponent. Note that the next tournament on 5th Feb will be a "Simultaneous Super Ronde de France".

On Sunday, the adult Footballers team played against Vélizy Sport Club International. The first half was pretty even, but the half-time score was 1-0 to VSCI thanks to a penalty against the SAC. In the second half, the SAC put up a good fight and scored one goal (Ignacio Aguirre) but VSCI scored 4, so the final scored was 5-1 to them.

Our Junior Footballers also played return U-13 and U-10 matches against VSCI and shared the honours. See below for a full report.

Fitness started the new session with the introduction of a new class - Pilates Basic Mat Progression - on Mondays at 12:15 pm. See below for some schedule changes next week.

What's coming this weekend and after

You will no doubt have heard that Sébastien has left. It is still possible to contribute to a farewell gift to him, either by post to the club or by leaving it at the office, but it is no longer possible to do so online, as the account that was created with has been closed and the contributed left at the office. Many thanks to Caroline Nairac for organising it and, of course, to those who contributed.

The Search is still on for a volunteer Newsletter Editor!

The Club Management is looking for a News Editor whose responsibility is to compile the weekly newsletter from the input provided by Management, Staff, the Section heads and members. The News Editor should be fluent in English, preferably a native speaker. The time commitment needed is a few hours a week. The management would hope for a long-term commitment to the post from the volunteer. Please contact Matthew Curtin () if you're interested.
