8th February 2019 News

Stop Press

Squash: Another victory for Team 1 who won 3/2 at home against Squash 95 and remain 3rd in the league. But a tough night for Team 2 who lost 5/0 at Stade Français, one of the best team in the league.

What's been going on

Our Junior Footballers, U11s and U13s, had a great time last Saturday and inflicted a double defeat on the visitors from the British School in a splendid afternoon of good-spirited sporting competition.

The Squash Section held its annual Tournament last Saturday. 13 members took part and all had 3 or 4 better-of-2 game matches. The semi-finals pitted Lee Beaves against Nicolas Rosset and Aurélien Prière against Alec Maurey. Alec and Nicolas made it through to the final and, after an exciting match, Alec emerged the winner 2/1! Congratulations Alec!

Last Sunday the adult Footballers played against the FIFFA and won 2-1, with Ignacio Aguirre and Mikael Jayet scoring goals.

The Snooker Tournament is progressing slowly but surely - though there are two first-round singles matches yet to be played. In the Open Singles, David Colson and Roland Tchertoff both won their matches to move into the quarter-finals. In Open Doubles, Dougie Anderson and Emmanuel Bertrand beat James Moore and James Webb. (There are two first-round singles matches yet to be played.)

What's coming this weekend and after

Bridge Lessons

Jenny Pratt is investigating the possibility of organising an initial series of lessons for complete or near-complete beginners. She would need to know how many people would be interested and what their availability would be - probably early evening from, say, 6.30/7 pm to 9 pm would suit both those who work as well as those who do not. The current rate for bridge lessons is approx. €130 for 10 lessons. If you are interested, would you please get in touch with Jenny on .

The Search is still on for a volunteer Newsletter Editor!

The Club Management is looking for a News Editor whose responsibility is to compile the weekly newsletter from the input provided by Management, Staff, the Section heads and members. The News Editor should be fluent in English, preferably a native speaker. The time commitment needed is a few hours a week. The management would hope for a long-term commitment to the post from the volunteer. Please contact Matthew Curtin () if you're interested.
