15th February 2019 News

Stop Press

Squash 14th February -  Team 1 played neighbours Chaville away and won 3/2. But another tough night for Team 2 at home; with only 4 players they lost 5/0 against St Cloud.

What's been going on

Last Sunday the adult Footballers played against Les Italiens, but unfortunately lost 4-5 in a high-scoring game.

The Snooker Tournament is progressing slowly but surely. In the Open Singles, Paul Willey beat son Joris to move into the semis, where he will meet the winner of David Colson and Hugo Marrison's quarter-final. The Willeys were also busy in the Doubles, beating Simon and Hugo Marrison and will meet Dougie Anderson and Emmanuel Bertrand in the semis.

The Golf Section had a nice day for their first competition of the year at Villarceax on Saturday 9th,  "3 Clubs and a Putter" Stableford competition. Sue Hall won the Ladies' and Frédérick Thiriet the Men's, both with 32 points.

The Bridge Section has two teams in the FFB Interclub competition and we are delighted to report that they are progressing well in their respective Divisions.

The Club's drainage systems are now all joined up and working! The entrance to the Club will be restored over the next couple of weeks to make it attractive again.

What's coming this weekend and after

Note that there's a Bridge Workshop today, Friday the 15th where they'll be busy plotting their way to 3 No Trump contracts.

Bridge Lessons

Jenny Pratt is investigating the possibility of organising an initial series of lessons for complete or near-complete beginners. She would need to know how many people would be interested and what their availability would be - probably early evening from, say, 6.30/7 pm to 9 pm would suit both those who work as well as those who do not. The current rate for bridge lessons is approx. €130 for 10 lessons. If you are interested, would you please get in touch with Jenny on .

The Search is still on for a volunteer Newsletter Editor!

The Club Management is looking for a News Editor whose responsibility is to compile the weekly newsletter from the input provided by Management, Staff, the Section heads and members. The News Editor should be fluent in English, preferably a native speaker. The time commitment needed is a few hours a week. The management would hope for a long-term commitment to the post from the volunteer. Please contact Matthew Curtin () if you're interested.
