3rd May 2019 News

What been happening

Last weekend 18 Golfers went off to Dieppe for their Spring Weekend only to suffer the weather effects of the tail-end of Storm Hannah, which meant that the competition on Saturday was reduced to 9 holes (though some did play the full 18). David Colson won for the Men's Kiwi Cup and guest Mary Scriven won the Ladies'. Mary also won the Dean Trophy for the best scratch score. On Sunday the group played a Texas scramble, in teams of 3, this time over 18 holes (with occasional sunny spells); 3 teams ended up with the same score, but, after a count-back, the prize went to the team of Ian & Muriel Jones and James Moore.

Last weekend saw the most of the Snooker finals being played. On Saturday morning in the Open Doubles, Andrew Taylor & Roland Tchertoff beat Paul & Joris Willey in 3 straight frames (out of 5). In the afternoon Roland and Paul met again in the Open Singles Final; Roland Tchertoff beat Paul Willey 3 frames to 1. In the Veterans, James Moore retained his champion's title by beating Ian Jones.

The  Snooker Prizegiving ceremony will take place during the Flamenco Evening on Saturday 11th May.

On Sunday we also said a final farewell to Dale and Amber after their 10 years of service to the Club and we wish them the very best in their future endeavours.

On Monday 30th Squash Court N°1 was put out of action for renovations; it will reopen on Saturday 11th May.

The (somewhat chilly) swimming pool opened on the 1st of May.
