What been happening
The Bridge Dinner/Tournament was on Tuesday 7th. The winners were: in East-West Annick Gruselle and Alain Raynaud with 67.5% and in North-South Joyce Jaques and Joan Cosgrove with 60.62%!
Yoga, Step and Pilates have all back to their usual timetables.
What's coming soon
The Golfers are having their Section AGM tonight (Friday 10th) followed by dinner. And next Saturday (18th May) is the occasion for the Annual SAC Spring Cup at Villarceaux (first played on 23rd May 1981).
Squash Court N°1 reopens this Saturday 11th.
The Junior Cricket season starts this weekend with the U11s and U16s playing on Saturday morning. We have a good number of children enrolled already, but there's always room for more. If your child has always wanted to try cricket then this weekend is a great time to start.
Saturday evening is Flamenco Evening (¡Olé!) - featuring dancers & live music by ARTEFLAMENCO. Includes Cocktail, Tapas, Paella, ...and will also feature the Snooker Prizegiving ceremony.
Food this weekend: Saturday: Croissants & Pains au chocolat. Lunch: Ham or cheese and salad sandwiches. ham and cheese, tomato and mozzarella paninis; tomato and mozzarella salad; Steak, baguette & chips. Sunday Brunch: BBQ lunch with salads and all the usual brunch stuff (except sausages, which can't be cooked on the grill.)
And on Sunday 12th, operation All Hands on Deck! is looking for volunteers to help get the Club looking all shipshape and Bristol fashion!
On Monday 13th the Ladies' Tennis ALT's team play their first match in the knockout phase of their tournament against Clichy! (Fingers crossed!)
On Saturday and Sunday, the 18th and 19th of May, the Club is hosting the veteran amateur football championship for 58- to 65-year-olds the International Super Masters 5-a-side World Cup Football Tournament, which focuses on age-specific 5-a-side/futsal and smaller-sided football games. Over 200 people will be coming over the two days, representing 16 nations. Entry to the Club for members is free, and there will be 3 food trucks to provide victuals to the visitors.

Please also note that the Tennis School is accepting registrations for the next year (2019/2020) and also for the Summer Tennis Camp in mid-July.

The Search is still on for a volunteer Newsletter Editor!
The Club Management is looking for a News Editor whose responsibility is to compile the weekly newsletter from the input provided by Management, Staff, the Section heads and members. The News Editor should be fluent in English, preferably a native speaker. The time commitment needed is a few hours a week. The management would hope for a long-term commitment to the post from the volunteer. Please contact Matthew Curtin () if you're interested.

Very good play too by the 2 pairs who tied for 2nd place in NS - Ian Jones and Jean-Philippe Loyer and Jean Palfrain and Ghislaine Dubau with 57.5% and in EW Sally Buswell and Jenny Pratt with 56.88%.

The new Step and Pilates and Step terms have started and classes are back on a full schedule. As usual watch out for information and updates from Pam (). (But please note that Pam will be absent on Wednesday 29th May.)

The next item on the Bridge agenda is the Workshop - on Friday 24th May. Followed on June 4th by Prize-giving, Dinner and traditional Individual Tournament (a 'more the merrier' event open to players of all levels and great fun The last event of the season, the Workshop is on Friday 14th June.
Court N°1 will be undergoing renovation work from Tuesday 30th April until Friday 10th May inclusive. It will reopen on Saturday 11th May. Court N°2 will, of course, remain accessible throughout.
Help to get the Club all shipshape and Bristol fashion! Volunteer painters, gardeners and odd-job folk needed from 10 am to 3 pm!
The ALT's team are now through to the knockout phase of the tournament and will be facing Clichy on Monday 13th May.
The Golf Section AGM (and prizegiving and Dinner) is on Friday 10th May followed next weekend by the 39th Spring Cup at Villarceaux - an 'Open' competition first staged on the 23rd May 1981. After that, the next big Section event is the President's Cup on the 6th of July. Plenty of time to practice.
