28th June 2019 News

 What's been happening

A week ago, last Friday was the last Bridge workshop. Then on Saturday, Golfers golfed (see the results below), the Tennis School had a party, Junior Cricketers had a game against LFP Morangis (see below), and the senior Cricketers played against Drancy CC. Then to round off Saturday there was the BBQ/ Campout.

On Sunday the senior Cricket side hosted a game against PUC and won. (See the link to the match report below.)

Every morning this week the Junior Squash players had a Squash Camp with coach Bassiby. (Today, Friday, is the last day.)

Also this Friday evening there is the Cambridge Society of Paris's Second Glory Days of Paris second lecture "The Philosophical Framework, Dadaism and Surrealism" at 7 pm. You should have signed up by Monday 24th if you had wanted to go.

This Friday morning there is a private event from 8 am to 2.30 pm involving 150 people in the marquee or on the playing field.

Don't forget that the invitation you will have received was extended to include a Guided Tour of the Destribats Collection at Christie's on the 2nd of July.

What's coming

Saturday

Cricket: there will be Lads vs Dads cricket match on Saturday morning, then the SAC Cricket section cordially invites one and all to welcome the Paris Cocks Aussie Rules Football Club for a Cricket and Barbie afternoon. All are welcome to the Barbie! Bring your own meat/salads/dessert and enjoy the atmosphere, washing it down with some Amber liquid (in moderation)!

The Queen’s Cup Open Squash Tournament takes place on this Saturday & Sunday.

It's Tennis Finals Day. See below for the order of play.

Step and Pilates should continue until the 15th of July, but please confirm with Pam. Yoga classes will continue normally tomorrow and next week until the last class before the summer break, which will be on Saturday 6th at 2 o'clock.

Food this Saturday: Croissants & Pains au chocolat. Lunch: Sandwiches, Ham and cheese, tomato and mozzarella paninis; Salads of the day; Steak sandwich; Entrecote & fries.

You will have heard already that because of the low expected attendance that we have had to cancel the White Dinner planned for Saturday evening.

Sunday

There will be No Sunday Brunch: because of the EGM, and similarly, there will be no Afternoon Tea.

The Queen's Cup Squash continues  - finishing before the EGM!

And Cricketers will be entertaining Chantilly CC for a 40-over game.

But the main feature of Sunday the 30th must be the long-awaited EGM at which we're hoping for a full quorum.

Next week and beyond

On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings next week, a private event for 300 people will be occupying the main room in the clubhouse from 09:00 am - 12:30 pm and will be closed to all except attendees.

Included in the Cambridge Society of Paris's Second Glory Days of Paris invitation was a Guided Tour of the Destribats Collection at Christie's on Tuesday, 2nd of July. (Again you should have signed up by the 24th.)

And next Saturday the Golf Section will be holding its President's Cup an individual (Net) Stableford Competition, but also featuring a Putting Competition and the Nou Yai Cup for the best Ladies' gross score.

Remember that the Tennis School is accepting registrations for the next year (2019/2020) and for the Summer Tennis Camps in mid-July (8-12th and 15-19th) - sign-up deadline is Friday 5th July.

English Language Summer Camps: plenty of information pointed to in the article below.  The camp dates are 8th – 12th, 15th – 19th, 22nd – 26th July and 26th – 30th August; hurry as places are filling up fast!

The Search is still on for a volunteer Newsletter Editor!

The Club Management is looking for a News Editor whose responsibility is to compile the weekly newsletter from the input provided by Management, Staff, the Section heads and members. The News Editor should be fluent in English, preferably a native speaker. The time commitment needed is a few hours a week. The management would hope for a long-term commitment to the post from the volunteer. Please contact Matthew Curtin () if you're interested.
