The Club reopened at 8 am today, Friday 7 January 2022
MC NEWS
The MC met twice over the holiday period, on Tuesday 21st December and Tuesday 4th January.
Tennis Courts
Following on from the replacement of Court 3 in spring 2021, our “show” clay tennis courts (Courts 1, 2, 4, 5, with Court 6 to be assessed as a subsequent priority) are approaching the end of their normal lifespan. A team made up of Raphael Kahane, Roland Tchertoff, Philippe Ayme-Jouve and Mikael Jayet has been working this issue for some months, beginning with a full diagnostic from the FFT, leading to assessment of 3 potential suppliers. The key challenges were to:
- Ensure a reputable, FFT-certified provider
- Ensure that the provider has good understanding of the specifics of our courts. (In particular, the foundation drainage layer, which means that we need additional clinker to ensure good drainage)
- Obtain a 10-year guarantee
- Obtain a competitive price
We are pleased to announce that the team has been able to conclude an agreement that meets all 4 of the Club’s criteria. The MC approved the replacement of all 4 courts at a cost of €95K. The first 2 courts (1 and 4) are scheduled for replacement this winter (2021/2022), with Courts 2 and 5 to follow next winter.
Thanks to the Tennis Committee (Philippe, Mikael) for their work, together with Raphael and Roland from the Management Team.
Covid
The Covid situation is evolving rapidly with the Omicron variant. The MC discussed how best to balance risk and Member access to the Club, concluding with 3 principles/actions.
- In an environment where perhaps 5% of the population has Covid at any one time, no measures can eliminate risk. We all, therefore, use our personal judgment when coming to the Club, as we do in any other social situation
- Protocols have been reinforced, particularly with regard to the wearing of masks indoors and outdoors when not playing sport. The new regulations are posted on the website.
- Rooms will be aired frequently — Members should please dress appropriately.

As you may already have seen, all Club members are now requested to wear a mask inside and outside the Club except to practice sport or coaching. Though snooker is considered a sport, it is practised among other members inside the Clubhouse, and therefore if you do play a game, you must keep wearing your mask. We are well aware that these are not the ideal conditions for playing tournament matches and so we have decided to put the Tournament on a hold for the moment.
