Bridge News - Licence time...

Unfortunately, no tournaments or workshops are in view, but that doesn't stop you from playing your friendly games of bridge, provided, of course, that you respect the health guidelines - see this article.
We now have three 110x110cm boards to be used to enlarge the bridge tables (with a mat underneath and another one on top) to increase the separation between players. A maximum of 2 tables should be used in the Bridge Room, but there's usually plenty of space in the main room and the bigger black tables can be used too.
It is time to renew your FFB licences - for the same amount as last year, i.e. €56 (cheque made out to the SAC Bridge Section). The Committee and the Federation need the income in order to keep functioning and if you are playing in a club or on Funbridge or BBO, you will need to have a valid licence (preferably before 1 November). A renewal form is attached to the main article but only needs filling out if your personal details have changed.

War on Wasps - 2

We are pleased to announce that the number of wasps in and around the club has been considerably reduced thanks to the intervention on Friday 14 August of a specialised company FRANCE ECO 3D.
The MC was compelled to intervene with this wasp issue as the sheer number of wasps was getting totally out of hand, with members and staff being stung on a daily basis.
The contract signed with this company (for 3 interventions) offered us the most cost-effective solution. (See full article for photo & video.)

MC Report Summer 2020

Tennis News - clay court inspection

The Tennis Comittee has undertaken a ‘Diag Technique’ of our clay courts with the French Tennis Federation experts this week.
They will be back for more tests at the beginning of winter but these preliminary tests have shown our courts to be in a much better state than we originally thought. The main message from the FTT was that they need to be watered as much as possible and preferably after every match.  Great news!

Golf News - some dates for the rentrée

The 40th Autumn Vase planned for Saturday 12 September has been cancelled. And this autumn's golf weekend will involve a trip to the Golf de Vaugouard from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September. (Form attached to the main article)

Registration for the tournamant may be done online here. Sunday 12 July is the last day for registration. The first matches start from Thursday 16 July.  Finals Day is on Saturday 26 September.

Progressive opening of the Club

The good news is that while the Club’s indoor facilities remain closed, we are now able to offer members access to most of the club’s outdoor areas on a much less constricted basis, within the limits of the guidelines and recommendations of the authorities and sporting federations - effective immediately. (Don't forget to sign the rules acceptance form...)

Golf News: Business is booming!

Three events are planned for the SAC golfers: June Monthly Competition (next Saturday 6th), Summer Eclectic (July/August) and (potentially) Mixed Matchplay (now to October).

First steps towards opening of the Club

The measures announced by the Mairie de Meudon and the Prefecture are extremely strict. Initially the Club will only be open for tennis players with a maximum of 10 persons on the site at one time. Only singles matches will be allowed on the three hard courts according to strict rules of access, circulation and hygiene.
The only entry to the Club will be by the 'cricket' gate which will be manned. Nobody without an ADSL tennis reservation will be admitted. The clubhouse, changing rooms and toilets will remain closed, and all other areas in the grounds apart from those immediately adjacent to the tennis courts will be out of bounds.
Tennis should start as from the morning of Saturday 16 May (see this article).
